[ Personality ] :
To understand who Luke is now, you have to understand who he was to begin with. The son of a Duke, he grew up very, very sheltered. He was locked away in his manor with no clue as to how the world outside worked. He was ignorant to the, and as he was of a high class, he was raised very well. As a result, he became a spoiled brat. Rude, reckless, brash and selfish, Luke thought only of himself and his needs. He didn’t realize, or think about how his actions affected others. He was confident, head-strong, hot-headed, and hated when people didn’t talk to him about their plans before deciding on what to do in certain situations. Basically? He was kind of an asshole, and one with no intention of changing that. He was a spoiled brat, who expected people to explain things and cater to his needs. He definitely wasn’t the kind of guy you would expect to save the world.

Another big part of who Luke was—and to an extent who he is now—was his hero-worship of Van. Van taught him everything he knows about sword fighting, and he is the one Luke looked up to the most. From Luke’s point of view, Van was the only one to acknowledge and encourage him. He hated when people dissed him, stood up for him constantly, and would listen to Van before anyone else. This idolization is what leads to the disaster at Akzeriuth, were Luke learned something that lead to him changing drastically—He discovers he’s a replica. And not just that, but he was just Van’s pawn all along.

After Akzeriuth, Luke’s personality practically does a 180. Where he was once hot-headed and confident, he is now uncertain and severely down on himself. Luke no longer sees himself in the way he had before Akzeriuth. Now, instead of feeling superior, he thinks himself only a replica, and as such he believes he has little value compared to others—Especially Asch. After all, Asch is the one who should be living in the manor, not him. He stole that life from Asch. This train of thought is the bane of Luke’s existence, because he dwells on being a replica—and as such, being inferior to the original—a lot. However, Luke isn’t just down on himself constantly. He has a strong desire to atone for his mistakes, and for what he did at Akzeriuth. He’s willing to do anything to make up for it, and this desire is the driving force behind most of his actions. He does what he can, and what he feels he has to—like nearly giving his life to neutralize the miasma. He felt that was his burden to bear, not just to save the world, but to make sure that Asch would survive to free Lorelei.

There are some things that remain the same from the beginning of the game to where I will be taking him. For one, Luke was always a good kid. Sure, he was an asshole, but he did have some good in him—goodness that Ion saw. It was a rare occurrence, but he would worry about the Fon Master and others. He just wasn’t very good at expressing these feelings, and if his kindness was ever pointed out he would quickly go back to his bratty nature. Now, his kindness is much more apparent. He helps people much more willingly than before, and openly worries about others. He thinks about others much more than himself, and does everything he can to help. Another thing that stays the same is his bratty nature. While for the most part it’s non-existent, he will occasionally snap. Usually this is only when he’s talking to Meiu, but there are times he’ll make snide remarks or act in a way similar to his old self. These moments are rare, however, and they don’t last long.

Luke does value his own life. This is something he realized recently, when faced with his own death. He doesn’t want to die, or throw his life away like Asch seems to think he’s doing. The thought terrifies him. However, Luke understands that sacrifice has to be made to save the world. In the case of the Tower of Rem, he sees his death as the only way things will turn out alright. He’ll sacrifice himself to get rid of the Miasma so that Asch—the original, who is clearly more qualified—can free Lorelei. Yet even though he believes it to be the right choice, he still wants to live. Not for others, but for himself.

All in all, Luke is a good kid who is honestly trying to change himself, and do what he can to make up for his mistakes.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :

+ Luke is a proficient sword fighter, with a plethora of sword skills up his sleeve

+ He has a good heart, and does what he can for others

+ He’s someone who is able to realize his mistakes and work towards trying to atone for them.

+Luke values human life. He would rather avoid killing people if he can help it.

- While Luke understands that in conflict death is unavoidable, killing another weighs heavily on his conscious. It doesn’t affect him nearly as bad as it did at the start of the game, it still affects him negatively.

- He is constantly down on himself.

- While he’s learned a lot over the course of the game, he’s still relatively ignorant when it comes to the world, and he still has a lot to learn. He’s only been alive 7 years, after all.

[ I don’t want to die-- Is his last thought, until he suddenly finds himself waking, drenched and cold. It took a minute to realize he was somewhere he didn’t recognize. Was he…dead? It was the only thing that made much sense. Though…if he was dead, then where were all the replicas? Did he fail?

He stares down at his hands, trying not to shake. No! He couldn’t have failed! Not when everyone was counting on him. If he couldn’t do that one, simple thing—He shivers again, from being damp instead of shock. He forces himself to focus on this instead. Being cold and wet, he should go find something dry.

He could figure everything else out later. So looking around the bustling square, he hurries over to the nearest person. ]

Hey—Excuse me! Do you know where I can find some dry clothes? Or a towel? [ He realizes then that he doesn’t have an Gald on him. What should he do? He could pay the guy back, but…] I don’t have any money on me, but I’ll pay you back…I know a promise probably won’t mean much…but I swear I will! Just give me a chance; I’ll work to pay it back somehow.
