Below is a place to thread out quick little conversations with the NPCs that aren't worth an entire log. Vatheon's staple NPCs will have postings here, and all the other new quest NPCs will simply be listed under the "Quest NPCs" comment header. Please put in the subject line which quest you're talking with an NPC about!

[ questing questing questing it's like this curse was catered to her. Having woken up in a ridiculous (but sexy as fuck) outfit made of leather, she knew. She just knew. Roxy was in seventh heaven, and when she had discovered that there was a quest for her to get more skills, she knew she had to take it.

Finding him in the casino was easier said than done, but Roxy eventually caught sight of the only man in the place who looked even vaguely rogue-like. She followed after him for a little while before finally prancing up behind him and tapping him on the shoulder. ]

'scuse me. I'm not sure how sneaky I'm supposed to be about asking this, so I'm just gonna come out 'n say it: you can give me a new awesome skill, right?

[Wait, no, don't talk to him now! The light-fingered man jumps, looking from left to right, but it's too late. The casino manager has spotted him and is heading right their way!]

That's me babe, but you better be able to learn on the fly! Sometimes you get yourself in a real bad spot and you just want to disappear, you know? Well, if you focus really, really hard...

[Poof! The light-fingered man disappears!]

You can become invisible. Only seems to work in a pinch, though.

[Possibly being arrested is definitely a pinch, okay? Via the magic of RPGs, Roxy would feel like she's now capable of using the skill Perfect Invisibility.]

[ You little mother fu-- okay no shh she can do this. It goes pretty well in hand with her voidy powers, really! And maybe it'll make things a little easier for her when things back to normal, if she can just figure it out...

Okay no time for thinking, the manager does not look happy. Roxy closes her eyes, crosses her fingers, and-- HAH! Yes! Oh look at that confused look on that man's face. Time to just slip her sweet little ass out of there. ]

*Pascal's method of approach to find the thief within the Casino is a little more ornate than what some would try. Nimbly jumping from rafter to rafter, she used her speed to locate the man...

... Before dropping down to his side.*

I've heard that you're the best sneak around.

[He doesn't seem too surprised to have her drop beside him.]

I'm the man you're looking for, babe. You're not too shabby yourself.

I've heard, in fact, that you're able to turn entirely invisible for a short period of time in a pinch.

So I'm just wondering if you'd be willing to teach a girl, yanno?

Might sound cheesy, but you're going to have to look inside yourself to learn that one.

[He tosses her a pair of dice.]

Here you go.

[Strange, they're weighted... wait, where did the man go? He vanished! And now the casino manager is advancing on Pascal. He looks really mad. If she's desperate enough, she'll find that via the magic of rpg mechanics she now knows how to become perfectly invisible.]

*Pascal catches the dice...*

*... Sees the manager...*

E-er...



*... And focuses for a second. Maybe if.... Is it really that... The manager's raising an arm...! THERE!*



*And then, the girl disappears, and FLEES, clambering back up to the rafters and out of the manager's sight before the effect times out!*

*Hmm... Selphie's slinking around the casino when she spots the person that she's been looking for. Keeping her catsuited self to the shadows is something she's been enjoying, and eventually she just appears silently beside him*

Good evening...

[Dammit, why do these girls keep drawing attention to him?! Oh, right, the quest. At this rate he really will get arrested for cheating at dice, though!]

That's me, babe. Catch!

[He tosses her his weighted dice, then takes a deep breath and... vanishes. Here comes the manager, hopefully Selphie can learn on the fly! He looks pretty angry. Just seeing the light-fingered man do it, she should have a pretty good idea of how to harness that for herself.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Is he really complaining? If they're anything like Selphie, they're rather interestingly dressed. She catches the dice, noticing straight away that they are indeed weighted - nice trick.

Wait - where did he?

Oh snap! The manager! And with that oh snap, Selphie blinks hard and is {poof} invisible! Whoa...*

[Selphie has learned Perfect Invisibility! Thankfully, the first time doesn't count towards her cooldown.]

[Moving fast isn't the same thing as being invisible, and Dirk knows it. Still, he's had plenty of practice in flashstepping to avoid being seen (his house has been pretty awkward to live in, recently).

He waits a minute or two before determining that this guy is sneaky enough to be the one he's looking for. Then he approaches.]

'Sup, slim shady.

[thalassino]

You're the one with the shades here, buddy.

[He grins easily, waving at Dirk.]

Oh, nothing much. Just trying to slide on out of here before the manager pops up. You know how it goes.

[shippingmath]

[Dirk glances to the side, keeping an eye out for the manager.]

You're going to have to slide pretty quickly, in that case.

[thalassino]

What, is he lurking around again? Man...

[He grins suddenly, tossing Dirk a pair of dice.]

Here, catch.

[If there's one thing Bro's lamented ever since this curse started, it's how slow he is. He's in the fastest character class and he's still too slow. How he wishes he could still move the way he normally does, it'd make quests so much more fun to do. While invisibility isn't the same as flashstepping, it's probably the closest he'll get.

So he situates himself in the casino and waits, scanning the crowd for anyone suspicious. It doesn't take him too long at all, there's no mistaking that shady look. As the light-fingered man draws away from the crowd to retreat somewhere more secluded, Bro follows. It's hilariously easy to corner this guy.]

Sup dude. You know, maybe if you drew less attention to yourself, you wouldn't need to become invisible.

Buddy, if I didn't draw attention to myself, how would all you newbie rogues find me?

[He actually sounds annoyed. It's not his fault that the setup of this whole quest has it so he has to be relatively easy to spot! If he had his way he'd be cleaning out this casino and ditching the whole damn city! Being an NPC is suffering, though, and he has to keep lurking this casino for two whole weeks with the manager growing increasingly angry at him.]

[For a few seconds, Bro is silent. Then he cracks a wide grin because... this is hilarious fourth wall breaking logic he can't argue with, really. It's definitely true.]

Hah, yeah, good point.

You're damn right it is. Look, I'll just be straight with you - the key to becoming invisible is being really, really desperate. It's not something you can do all the time, you have to be in a real pinch.

[This is code for saying: it's a skill with a long cooldown that you can only use when your number's just about up.]

[flared]

[This can only be the best thing ever, ok. He doesn't have his Portals at the moment, so this has to be the next best thing.

So after a bit of scouting-- Ah. That shady looking one over there. He'll just be walking up behind him... and following him as casual as ever, hands in his pockets and grin on his face.

Let's see how long it takes this one to figure out he's being followed.]

[It doesn't take him long at all, in fact. Unfortunately, due to the parameters of this quest, he has to keep himself out in the open where people can find him. After awhile of being tailed he stops.]

Look, just ask me for the skill already so I can teach you, would you?

[flared]

[Oops. Looks like he's been found out. Axel chuckles then pauses, hands at his hips as he speaks back to the shady fellow.]

Then I'm asking for the skill here and now... please.

[It's not Axel's fault, but he's reaching the end of his rope here. Still, he does say please, so that gets the man to relax a little.]

That's better. Alright, then. Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you're in a real pinch, you can do things that you couldn't before?
