[ Character's Name ] : Ghirahim [ Character's Age ] : hundreds and hundreds of years old REALLY OLD. A millennium at least. Appears to be...mid-twenties, maybe? [ Series ] : Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword [ Canon Point ] : post-game
[ Personality ] : Upon first impression, if one didn't know any better, Ghirahim is gentlemanly and polite, adhering to the rules of etiquette expected of someone of noble station. But under the surface of his "honorable" initial persona is a volatile mix of an extremely short temper and a sadistic streak a mile wide. Ghirahim delights in bloodshed and violence--not surprising given his true nature as a demonic weapon. He takes out his anger at his failure to capture Zelda on Link constantly. He has no concept of personal space--or if he does, he just doesn't care, as he invades Link's constantly and without hesitation. He also taunts Link on his sword skills, calling him a novice for advertising how he's going to attack (and then displays just how pathetic Link is by blocking the boy's strikes with one hand and stealing Link's sword from him) and even backhands him for being a coward when Link showed too much hesitation.
Ghirahim is also extremely vain. He's flashy in his manner of dress and gestures, and tends to put far too much confidence in his own abilities, while severely underestimating his opponents. He even prefers to be acknowledged by his full title, even though he claims to not be picky. Ghirahim is picky about everything. His entire appearance is carefully calculated and presented to serve his own ends. It's unclear why Ghirahim's initial form is one of flesh when he has so much contempt for those who have it--he even calls his second form (where his arms are solid metal like they are in his true form) flawless and beautiful. It may be that this is for the same reason as his gentility facade--a mockery of human culture and social interaction.
Strangely, Ghirahim is brutally honest. He doesn't lie to Link about his plans or even hide the fact that he's trying to resurrect his master, Demise. He also freely admits his shortcomings--his short temper, as well as the fact that he feels no mercy towards his enemies (or allies, for that matter). His temper goes from zero to overboiling within minutes, as evidenced from meeting Link for the first time. He derives extreme pleasure from their fights, at one point even stopping to lick Link's blood from his sword. He even gives in gruesome detail the method he's invented to murder Link right before their last fight (which is exactly the method Link uses to win against Ghirahim. Oops.)
But in the end, Ghirahim is nothing like the carefully cultivated outer mask he displays throughout most of the game, and it becomes more and more obvious the more that Link interferes with his plans. He threatens Link with violence and death, and does everything he can to carry out those threats. He cares nothing for others, even gleefully sacrificing Zelda's soul to feed Demise. The suffering of other people is something Ghirahim delights in, and he will lord it over them and taunt them without mercy. Even Demise returning Ghirahim to his sword state didn't faze him--in fact, he seemed to be actually happy about it.
Overall Ghirahim is an unpredictable, malevolent, sadistic monster, incredibly vain and egotistic. He plays the part of a perfect gentleman, if quite flamboyant and with no concept of personal space. His anger is easily roused, and his method of venting includes extreme physical violence against the nearest individual, innocent or not. The only sense of loyalty he displays is to his master, Demise. Friendships and other bonds mean nothing to him...in fact, aside from resurrecting Demise and being reunited with his master, nothing else matters to Ghirahim.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] : excels at invading personal space All of Ghirahim's magic carries a diamond and/or weapon theme. The geometric shapes are evident while teleporting, shapeshifting into his true form (which can be controlled so that only parts of him are fully metallic, such as his arms), and summoning weapons and minions-- the bokoblins and moblins. Even his barriers have a geometric diamond pattern to them. His magic can bring inanimate objects to life or turn them into monsters, summon powerful tornadoes, and form balls of electricity in his hands to fend off attacks. Most of this magic and the summoning of weapons described below only requires a snap of his fingers to perform.
He can wield either one or two rapiers and summon smaller thrower knives to serve as projectiles--it's strongly hinted that as a sword himself, these weapons are an extension of his own body. He possesses strength and agility beyond a normal human being, which he uses with pseudo-gentlemanly restraint against any who oppose him. His true form, a purely metallic being, is even stronger. The trade-off is that this form is heavier and therefore slower, but having skin hard enough to withstand blows from the Master Sword more than makes up for it. The only weak point is the crystal embedded in his chest--although it's his own arrogance and vanity that's his biggest weakness of all.
His other true form is that of the Dark Master Sword--a parody of the goddess Hylia's sacred weapon. Ghirahim is a weapon of tremendous evil power, and will only take this form for someone he deems worthy. (which is only if you're Demise, really...)
[ Other Important Facts ] : Ghirahim is a troll. Also there's a reason why some refer to him as Ghiraham. Because he really does love hamming it up. :U
