[ Personality ] : Selim is a bright ball of sunshine. He’s normally very polite and often described as a gentle boy. During his spare time he loves to read or study alchemy. He comes off as innocent in the sense that he might accidentally insult Edward by calling him short to see if the rumors are true. Selim is a very curious child as well and often inquires in to anything that perks his interest.
When he grows up, he wants to be a State Alchemist just like Edward Elric! He hopes to be of use to the father he looks up to. Selim has a bit of a father-complex and often waits up late at night to hear about his father’s day. He loves his family, especially the Fuhrer, and dreams of fighting at his father’s side.
Him being adopted could play a role in his desire to help out the Fuhrer.
Or it could be the whole that just being the latest acting job he has in order to protect the only aging Homunculus that is playing at being his father.
Selim, in reality, is the first Homunculus known as Pride. As Pride, Selim’s personality differs greatly. Pride holds contempt for humans and views them as sacrifices for his real father. Pride has no issues stepping on or consuming his own siblings or people in order to keep on living. He is very clever and resourceful.
Like most of his siblings, Pride actually admires a small portion of humans. He views his life at playing a family unit as fun, and really enjoyed the time spent with his fake mother. He seems impressed even that she was willing to risk her own well being in order to protect him from an oncoming car. Their candidates for sacrifices seem to hold some amount of respect from him as well due to their desire to risk everything to save total strangers.
The only actual human Pride holds some attachment towards other than his “mother” was Kimblee. It’s peculiar how he wasn’t willing to slice through the Crimson Lotus in order to get to his opponents. Anyone else, including his own “brother” Gluttony, were subject to disposal. Pride wanted to preserve Kimblee, which the “good guys” used to their advantage. He wound up consuming Kimblee to allow the con to see things through to the end as a part of Pride himself.
His aspirations are pretty much similar to his Selim personality; he wishes to help out his father. A part of him longs to be human due to his father’s formal longing to be human as well, but his arrogance wouldn’t allow him to show it.
Pride has also shown a mild sadistic streak as he tears people to pieces when he ensnares them in his shadows. He has shown great enjoyment in making Hawkeye very paranoid about shadows and even threatened her to see how she would react. He tends to hang in the background out of harm, but will go all out if it’s required to fulfill his father’s orders.
Pretty much as Selim he’s a happy kid, but as Pride he’s mildly creepy and arrogant.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Sparkles appear whenever you ruffle his hair. He pretty much creates tendrils with mouths and eyes from his own shadow. It can stretch across a great distance so long as he has shadows to use. He can use them to tear people to pieces. He can be stopped if he is trapped in a dark dome or if someone uses a flare to eliminate shadows complete. Because he has consumed Gluttony, he can also track people by their smell. He also has a great hunger and will try to sneakily consume people.
