Vatheon's staple NPCs will have postings here, and all the other new quest NPCs will simply be listed under the "Quest NPCs" comment header. [Aww, how cute. She's not gonna teach him if he's an ass. No one can -

Wait, that's her communicator. She picks it up, and on the other end there's a saccharine female voice scolding her about doing her "job".]

....

[Looks like she's hanging up. She stares down at Laharl, honestly looking rather like a demon herself. If she didn't have to teach this kid his stupid skill, she'd be teaching him another sort of lesson!

Thankfully, how she imparts her knowledge is up to her.]

All right, kid. It's your lucky day. Hope you like learning by osmosis.

[She takes out a heavy looking book and promptly aims to smack him over the head with it. Provided he doesn't dodge, he'll learn the Faith skill.]

I'm training to be a PIRATE!

[One would think he'd be frightened of her after a story like that, but he just seems excited.]

Are you know? Well trust me, no captain will want a pirate who isn't well rested. I suggest you go to sleep, and start on your illustrious career tomorrow.

[Sleep or else kid]

[Laharl isn't the biggest on dodging. Tanks don't need to dodge. The book thwacks him squarely on the head.]

Ow! What the heck do you think you're--

[Oh. Well then.]

Hmph. I guess we're finished here.

[...but maybe she would make a good vassal. He'll have to try to find her later and properly intimidate her.]

[Roxas watches for a few moments, and then quietly slips out with his Nobody. He gives the sister a sheepish shrug. Not exactly how he intended it to work out, but they seem to be doing okay?]

Good. [Tifa takes a seat herself.]

Now, this is a true story. It takes place in the homeland of a friend of mine. He and his kind have been the protectors of a beautiful canyon, and he comes from a long line of brave warriors. His father, Seto, is said to be one of the bravest who ever lived.

Many years ago, the safety of the canyon and its people was threatened by the wicked Gi tribe. Unlike the peaceful villagers in the canyon, the Gi were a cruel people, all fighters and witches and nightmare creatures. Their leader was a warlock who commanded the power of fire.

Worse, they came to attack by night, in secret. They'd discovered a passage through the rock that would lead them straight past any defenses, into the very heart of the canyon. They planned to strike its people while they slept, and wipe them out before they could even sound the alarm.

Only one person did see it coming. The warrior Seto told only two other people: his mate, and the leader of the village. He didn't want anyone else to have to fight, or even to know how close they'd come to destruction. He started off alone into the heart of the canyon, and made one request: that the passage be closed up behind him, sealing him inside with the Gi.

Alone, he met the oncoming Gi warriors. He fought like a whirlwind, returning every blow with ten of his own and downing one attacker after the next. Finally he reached Nattak, the leader of the Gi, and they faced each other. The Gi did not stop to allow him an honorable battle, but kept firing at him even as he fought. He dodged flames and arrows alike, moving like the wind, snapping and clawing at his enemy until at last he brought down his foe.

The remaining Gi, frightened at the loss of their leader, turned and fled. And Seto, he would have turned to go home, but he'd been struck by some of the Gi's arrows. He could feel their poison seeping into him and slowing him. With the last of his strength, he climbed to the highest rock jutting over the passage, where he could see any enemy approaching. There, the poison turned him to stone.

And there he stands to this day, watching over his beloved canyon, protecting them from any attack. And the people live on peacefully, never needing to learn the ways of war, and honoring his memory.

[Fai nods.] I'll be right back. [and he will do as he was instructed. He taps on the window before climbing through.]

Hello?

[The room is stuffed with amenities Saturday night, as the manager and his wife really are quite concerned about the situation.

Sunday night after the battle, if she returns and tries to speak with them or tries to stay in her room, they just offer her blank smiles and direct her back towards her proper house.]

[She smiles a bit at that.]

That's the right attitude. People are idiots. They're going to run themselves ragged over and over again when just a little thought would have saved them - and you - so much trouble it's not even funny. But you know what? You've got to believe in yourself and your team anyway. You've got to have faith.

[And if Johnny's really listening to what she's saying, he'd find that suddenly he has exactly that - the skill, that is. The other sort is harder to come by.]

[If it's not a plant, she's not all that interested.]

Umm, Fluffy? Fluffy what?

[...wow. Everyone died in her story. The boy furrows his brow.]

How can they end up together again if he's dead?

[Sleep?! Sleep is for the weak! Sleep is for losers! He'll get around in bed and lay under the covers just to show her that he's totally well rested and that he doesn't need...

...sleep...

He's out the second his head hits the pillow.]

Try saying please next time and I might teach you without hitting you.

[She won't be anyone's vassal, but he's welcome to give it a shot!]

[He listens to the story eagerly, but by the end his face has fallen.]

How come he's got to stay like a stone? He's a hero, so it should be fixable!

[The other half of the room is absolutely covered in piles of junk. The second boy looks up from adding to one of his piles.]

Umm, hi.

[And yet again, the winner is her. Haha suckers, Marquise;1, everyone else;0

She does at least stop to draw the covers over the boy a little better before leaving the room, a smug little smile on her face as she looks for the lusus of the boy. She has a payment to collect after all]

Rebirth of course, isn't that obvious. [No Minako, it wasn't.]

I'd like to think so, too.

[And she doesn't, really, but...]

Maybe that's another story in the making, hm? After all, his son is old enough now, and he's growing up to be just as brave as his father. I bet he'll find a way.

[Uh. Uhoh. He knows this technically isn't his kid and it's not like he shielded Dave's ears whenever he cursed, but he gets the feeling corrupting this kid might reflect badly on his quest completion score. So he'll break this to the kid gently.]

It's an ancient fairytale word. Basically means bad person, only a little more underhanded. Like, you know kids who'd take your backpack and throw it in a puddle of mud for no reason? In fairytale land, that'd be a douchebag. It ain't really a word to use around here though, so don't. Just call that person a jerk. [Yeahhh, perfect save.]

So she's gotta wait until she dies, too? She should just ask the nurses to bring her special person back. That's what they do for you guys.

[See look, he knows how this works!]

[This seems to be acceptable to the boy. It's not forever after all, it's just until another hero fixes it. He nods, trying to cover a yawn. Sitting still is surprisingly tiring...]

Oh, okay.

[He doesn't like old timey words anyway, if he goes saying douchebag he'll look totally lame! He quiets back down to hear the rest of the story.]

Ahh..there you are~ I almost didn't see you amongst all the things.

[Fai looks around then smiles at the boy.] I'm here to tell you a story.

[Fai looks a little tired when he presents the nurse with the jar of slime.]

Waah..I had a little help from Dwight-san. Here is the requested goo!
