RPG event - Quest NPC Contact
◣ Quest NPC Contact ◢
Below is a place to thread out quick little conversations with the NPCs that aren't worth an entire log. Vatheon's staple NPCs will have postings here, and all the other new quest NPCs will simply be listed under the "Quest NPCs" comment header. Please put in the subject line which quest you're talking with an NPC about!

[CLAP!]
[It's a good thing that Vatheon took away his STRENGTH or else that might have created a shockwave.]
I hear you like stories.

Do you want to hear of the strongest and most cunning adventurer of all time? You'd have to sit down, of course, or you might miss something interesting.

[Still, he sits down. It might be best to try to give him the whole story at once and not give him a chance to talk again.]
i can't feel my feet anymore
Once, there lived a beautiful troll woman. She had long wild black hair and vivid green eyes that never missed a thing. With the reflexes of a cat, the cunning of an owl, and a beauty that could not be beat, everyone in the land knew of her. It also helped that there was an enormous bounty on her head, promising so much gold that one could live for ages like that of an emperor.
The reason she had a bounty on her head was because the empire of the land was actually evil and cruel, and they knew the troll with the olive eyes did too much good and would go against them. No matter how hard they tried, however, the troll would always manage to escape them. They tried very hard, the evil empire did, but the olive troll had many friends who helped her.
The first of her friends was, as a matter of fact, her daughter and the daughter was said to be an even better hunter than her mother. One night, the empire had sent out soldiers with beasts that could sniff the troll with the olive eyes down. The daughter caught wind of this plot, so she quickly set off from the camp where she and her mother had settled. There were many of the beasts, and they were fearsome, but so was the daughter. She was a very small thing, but no one had sharper claws than her. She ambushed them and tore them all to shreds. When there was nothing left of them but remnants, she laughed and danced in their blood. The daughter had a very infectious laugh, it was said, but she only made it when she had finished a slaughter or she was with someone she truly cared for, and strangers never could tell the difference. With her task finished and the empire foiled, she carried the carcasses on her back and brought them back to her mother so they could have their dinner.
The second of friends that belonged to the troll woman was a bard. Many fell to the bard's handsome nature and the charm that seemed to flow from him, something he needed no magic to do. His voice was beautiful, and his path was always littered with broken hearts. The bard was so charming, he managed to convince a dragon to be his ally and steed. One day as he was out flying with his scaled friend, he saw the troll with the olive eyes engaged in a terrible battle. She had held off a hundred of the empire's worst, but there were a hundred more still waiting to attack. Now, the bard may have been a breaker of hearts, but his own was noble and kind, and he couldn't leave someone to fight on their own. He swooped down, and he and his dragon joined the fray. The battle was over in a heartbeat, and the bard took the troll to a friend who would help ease her exhaustion and wounds.
Now, the bard's friend would one day be his lover, but right then, he was simply an engineer trapped deep within a mountain. The engineer was very strong, but there were chains that bound him which were stronger. It was his sons who would be the troll woman's next friends.
The oldest of the sons was a mirror image of his father, and inherited both his strength and his mind. He became fast friends with the lady troll's daughter, and they soon found they would do anything for one another. Together, they faced the empire's soldiers together with the eldest son creating clever traps, and the daughter would annihilate whoever managed to survive them. They were very happy together.
The youngest of the sons didn't have skills of cleverness the eldest had, or was strong in battle like the daughter and her mother were, or could charm dragons into helping him like the bard. The youngest simply had a very kind heart and lived to see the world itself smile. People tended to love the youngest like he was one of their own simply from the force of his personality and kindness. It's said that while he wasn't a very good liar, empire soldiers would go along with it anyway as they didn't wish to disappoint him or see him sad.
Now, together, the five of them went on many amazing adventures. Once, they ran into a mage who did everything in twos, and wanted them to help him create a net that could go over the entire world once, and then again. He and the bard became quite close friends, afterwards, and the group knew they could always rely on him. Another time, they ventured to an empire that opposed the evil empire so that they could speak to a princess who knew a great deal of magic. To aid them in defeating the empire, she gave them some of her finest archers including a pair of twins with one made from the soul of a tree and the other made from the shade it gave to weary travelers. For a very long time and with many different adventures, they finally had enough allies and items that could help them defeat the evil empire.
It was a long and vicious battle. The evil empire had not become an empire for no reason, after all. The Empress was vicious in her attacks against the group of heroes, and had powerful allies of her own. However, as things go in such tales, the group of five were victorious and the bard himself chased off the Empress on the back of his dragon so that she would never return to the land. The troll with the olive eyes would have done it herself, except she had rushed into the dungeons of the royal castle to find the lover the empire had taken from her so long ago.
There was only one last thing to do. Throughout all of their adventures, the engineer had always kept his mountain prison open to them so that they could rest from all their hard journeys and find sanctuary in a land that offered them very little many times. With the evil empire destroyed, the magic that stayed in the cursed chains was very weak. The troll with the olive eyes, her daughter, the bard, and the two sons all took the chain in their hand and tugged with all their might, and it snapped, leaving the engineer free. Taking him by the hand, the group of five lead him to the surface, where he saw light and felt warmth for the first time in a very long time.
They were all very happy, and had many new friends across the world, but there were still more places to explore and more adventures to be had, so the six of them climbed onto the bard's dragon and flew off to find them all. I'm certain they all lived happily ever after.

Even though his energy seems endless when he's actually moving, once he's still he starts to realize just how tired he really is. The story's caught his interest though, and so he forces himself to stay awake until the end. Once he hears that "happily ever after" he curls over on the floor, blessedly asleep.
The mother is asleep, too. Darkleer might have to wait for a delivery on this one.]
