Below is a place to thread out quick little conversations with the NPCs that aren't worth an entire log. Vatheon's staple NPCs will have postings here, and all the other new quest NPCs will simply be listed under the "Quest NPCs" comment header. Please put in the subject line which quest you're talking with an NPC about!

It's very interesting! With my magic I had to whistle to make it effective. With this, I simply summon it from my body. I like it! It's so much easier to understand this way because you simply have to know your own body, versus memorizing specific tunes.

I see! It sounds as if you were a bit of a bard before, hmm? Well, with all magic, I find that time is an issue.

[He'll wait to see if Fai agrees before continuing.]

Yes. I definitely would have to agree with that. Both in learning it as well as when you are using it.

Have you ever noticed that when you're particularly desperate, it seems as if time itself bends just a little and you can cast your spells with ease?

[If this kid's not a rookie mage, surely he's experienced that at least once before!]

Of course! I believe that might have something to do with the energy within a person. When they get worked up and stop over thinking things stuff like magic can flow easier.

Yes, that's it precisely! And if one is desperate enough, they might just find that they can bend time itself to pull off a quick spell casting.

Ahh bending time would take lots of practice I would think. But it would be convenient to make it pause just long enough to cast.

It does take quite a bit of practice, but...

[The tiny man gasps suddenly, pointing behind Fai. There's a huge minotaur right behind him, just about to swing and crush them both! If he could bend time, then he could cast a spell quickly enough to save them...]

[Lucky for Fai he's got fairly quick reflexes. As soon as he senses that minotaur behind him he spins to face it, placing himself between it and the man.]

It's not nice to sneak up on people.

[Lucky for Fai, he's used magic before and used to have the power to travel through time and space. So adjusting the area around him and focusing his abilities was like second nature at this point. He manages to send off a blast of fire in the minotaur's direction after giving himself enough of a break with that time bend.]

[It vanishes right after the fireball hits with a flash of light. The man is still sitting, and if Fai could see inside his hood, he'd see him smiling.]

Defending someone you barely know, eh? Well, perhaps I should feel a little badly for that trick. You did learn it though, didn't you?

[Fai realizes what he had done and looks back at the man with a smile.] It seems I have. What a sneaky person you are~

Hohoho. Well, you adventurers are a busy lot! I wouldn't want to waste your time with years of theory when a little desperation will do the trick, too.

[He doesn't have years. He's only got two weeks!]

Well I'm used to waiting years to perfecting spells but I suppose time really is of the essence right now. Good to know I've still got a sharp enough mind to learn something new so fast.
