◣ Quest NPC Contact ◢

Below is a place to thread out quick little conversations with the NPCs that aren't worth an entire log. Vatheon's staple NPCs will have postings here, and all the other new quest NPCs will simply be listed under the "Quest NPCs" comment header. Please put in the subject line which quest you're talking with an NPC about!

How have you found it so far, hmm?

[He seems calm, and he's not demanding answers or anything of the sort. Maybe he's not having much trouble? Not that the mage skill master cares, he throws almost everyone at a minotaur to teach them anyway. It's just faster.]

It's... well, I won't lie. I miss my own abilities more than I thought I was going to, and I'm feeling a little out of my element. I'm used to things just... happening with a motion of my hand, no casting needed.

[He lets out a quiet little laugh at that, looking sheepish now that he's admitted it.]

I know, that probably sounds awful, like I'm taking being a mage at all for granted...

Just a wave of the hand, eh? A good mage can do that. Oh, we still need casting time, but time itself is a little more flexible than most people think.

[You could even say that it's bendable.]

Is it?

[He has a hard time imagining time as anything but linear and very much not flexible, but that's what happens when you're sort of accidentally immortal.]

Oh, yes. If you're particularly desperate, you should find that it...

[He gasps suddenly, pointing at a large minotaur that's appeared behind Shiro.]

Look out!

[Shiro's got seconds to do something. Hopefully he likes trial by fire!]

[Trial by fire indeed. If there was one thing dealing with HOMURA taught him, it was the effectiveness of a good dodge and roll, which is exactly what he does the second he sees the minotaur that's bearing down on him.

But just like he said - Shiro, or rather Adolf, is far too used to simply using his power without thought or the need for an incantation, and it puts him in a bit of a bad spot when he can't seem to get far enough away to utter out said incantations before the minotaur comes swinging at him again.

It takes a few dodges before he realizes he's suddenly alone, too. Damn! Deserted by the mage who was supposed to help him?! That's cold!

But effective, because he actually gets angry at being left behind like that, and it's enough to push him in to wanting to fight back instead of running away at every turn.

And it clicks. Suddenly it's all there in his head, and he gets on his feet again as he feels time seem to stretch and pull around him. He spins the long silver staff in his hands around and slams the end down on the ground hard.]

Enough! This ends now! ARCANE BLAST!

[In a flash of light, the minotaur vanishes. The little man is sitting there still, calmly turning a page in his book. He chuckles when he sees Shiro.]

Ohohoho. Effective, isn't it? I think you've got a grasp on things now!

[parasolspinning]

Haa...

[Shiro lets out a relieved but amused noise, smiling rather brightly for having just gotten through all that.]

That was amazing! I didn't know I was capable of something like that! Thank you!
