[ Player Name ] : Anna/Skyler/RyuuChan
[ Personal DW ] : [personal profile] nataku_savur
[ Age ] : 24
[ Timezone ] : Central Standard Time (GMT -6)
[ Other Characters ] : None

[ Character's Name ] : Grell Sutcliff
[ Character's Age ] :
Appearance: Mid-20s
Actual age: Between 120 and 150 years (but a girl never tells ;) )
[ Series ] : Kuroshitsuji a.k.a. Black Butler
[ Canon Point ] : Post Ship Voyage Arc

[ History ] :
Kuroshitsuji Wikia powers go? It's for manga canon of course. http://kuroshitsuji.wikia.com/wiki/Grell_Sutcliff#Manga.27s_Synopsis

[ Personality ] :
Grell, while a man, considers herself very much female. This causes her to be considered a “trans woman.” Grell considers herself to be a very beautiful woman (even though many people disagree) and tries her best to behave as such. Because of this she tends to be vain about her outward appearance. She doesn't like any harm to come to her face because it will disfigure her beautiful looks. She hates it when people insult her looks and tell her she is anything but beautiful or female. She also tends to hit on every good looking guy she sees and tends “deflate” as such with they turn her down or insult her. She also tends to mourn the fact that she cannot have children – of course to which it is often pointed out by both co-workers and those she fights against that she is in fact a he. It was due to this that Grell joined Angelina Durless in becoming Jack the Ripper, taking on a human form.

Because Grell thinks of herself as a female, this causes her to behave very flamboyantly. The shinigami believes herself to be a sort of actress. As such she tends to be over dramatic and behaves as if she is performing on a stage. Often she refers to events or actions in theater terms and constantly speaks in double entendre. She is very exaggerated in most everything she does, especially when it comes to how she feels toward someone or something. She has even gone so far in her first fight against Sebastian to somewhat bastardize lines from Shakespeare, likening them to Romeo and Juliet. She believes them to be star-crossed lovers, though Sebastian is disgusted by the very thought.

However with all the theatrics and word play, Grell is actually a very blunt person. It doesn't matter if the person is kind or not to her, she will tell it like it is. Most often noted is when it pertains to a person's appearance and/or personality towards her. She makes it clear if she approves or disapproves of the person, and if she really doesn't like them she will let her disdain be known.

Grell is very masochistic and sadistic. She is thought of as a glutton for punishment as when she always tries to go near certain people and gets hurt because she does. More often than not it's because she ends up fighting the person and getting harmed. An ally of hers also tends to treat her badly and yet she still flirts with him as well. She also loves the color red. Because of this she is believed to be blood thirsty. This could also be because of the fact that she has said in the presence of others that she loves the color of fresh blood.

But there is another side to Grell all together. Brought out mostly when she takes her human form, she has shown that she is has many insecurities. She tries to hide these with her theatrics, but it is believed that she ultimately fears rejection. Bringing attention to herself, it helps her to feel that she important and allows her to be seen. As seen many times, she also messes things up in both human and shinigami forms. While trying to hide and flirt her way out of the trouble she's caused, it's been seen that she knows she messed up and tries to correct it. And while she may not be suicidal as she indicates while in her human butler form, she is effected by the results of what wrongs she's done.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
STRENGTHS-
~She's mentally driven if she has a (sometimes personal) goal of getting something.
~She's pretty strong. I mean you have to be to be able to hold a chainsaw and whip it around like it was nothing in weight.
~She can be relentless when in a battle. Yet another reason why she's been considered blood thirsty.
~She's good at coming up with schemes. Not as good a certain butler however she's pretty good all things considered.
~She wields a chainsaw. Chainsaws hurt. I don't think this has to be explained more.

WEAKNESSES-
~She's vain about her appearance. I mean she doesn't want people seeing her without makeup and she really doesn't want people hitting her in the face.
~When she's focused on something she tends to become obsessed. For personal accounts of these experiences, please feel free to approach Sebastian Michaelis.
~She has a human form which can pretty much do nothing real special. Seriously. Nothing special at all. Grell is a butler in this form, and a clumsy one at that.
~She's attracted to good-looking guys. If something happens and good-looking guys are the ones that caused it, she'd be more likely to flirt and become their prisoner than she would be to actually fight them.
~She tends to be a bit compulsive when it comes to doing things. Most of the time it doesn't even matter if there's been this whole big plan set out or if someone is doing some planning or something. She'll just go out and do her own thing regardless.
~Her eyesight sucks. Plain and simple. Take away her glasses, take away her sight.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
Grell, while being a shinigami, can also take the form of a human. It takes a bit of shinigami “magic” which in this setting would cause a decent drain of energy in becoming human or returning to the form of the shinigami. If she were to change form, she would be much more tired from the change than she would from walking, running around, “flash step” running, fighting, doing work or what have you.

In this same manner, Grell also has a “magic” weapon known as a deathscythe. Hers takes the form of a chainsaw. Bringing it with her, she would easily find a place to store it. However if needed she would be able to “summon” it – so to speak – to her side. This would take energy to do and so while it would not tire her out as much as changing from shinigami to human and vice versa, it would still take more of a toll on her than just moving about and doing every day things around the bubble. Also, if Grell had just changed from human to shingami, then it would more difficult for her to summon her deathscythe than normal. This could ultimately make it so that from time to time the chainsaw scythe won't appear in her hands at all.

In the world of Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji, Grell has the ability to see a person's life – items known to shinigami and other supernaturals as “cinematic records.” With the coral and various NPCs ultimately keeping people alive/reviving the dead, if she is able to see the records it would be very faint. Most likely though, she will not be able to see them at all, let alone do anything to them.

[ Sample ] :
The waters were so cold to the shingami. It wasn't easy to kill a shinigami. However it didn't help that William had shoved her back into ocean. She already knew she was going to be sick because of how long she had been in the frigid liquid. As soon as she got onto the boat a second time she quickly curled up.

“Grell, are you alright?”

She looked over her shoulder. Ronald was looking out for her. He cared about the older shinigami, she could tell. It was most likely out of obligation and concern at the same time. He was probably just as cold as her, but he was looking out for her.

“I think so. I just need some warmth. S-Some body heat to keep me warm would be nice,” she uttered. She tried to control her chattering teeth as she spoke, hugging herself and trying to hold back a sneeze.

“Get over yourself, Sutcliff. Help get us back to Dispatch,” the manager grumbled.

Wanting to give a piece of her mind to William, the person in question shakily got up on her feet. She wanted to tell him that had he not shoved her back into that frigid water, she wouldn't be so bloody cold. That because of him she wouldn't be coming into work come the next day because she already knew she would be sick.

She didn't get a chance though. The red-headed shinigami lost her balance due of her trembling body. She fell out of the boat a second time and into the ocean for a third. She screamed out of surprise and fear as she fell, watching as Ronald tried to catch her but couldn't. William seemed to have tried as well, but not well enough.

That or not caring enough to try, she thought grimly as she lost sight of them beneath the waves.

Grell's body sank lower into the ocean. She felt the icy chill of the water and knew that she would probably be down there for a while unless William decided to grace her with his wonderful presence and save her. She watched as bodies from the ship sank to the depths before her eyes closed.

I suppose the curtains are finally drawing a close on this beautiful maiden's body, she thought as numbness consumed her.

Grell didn't know how long she was unconscious, she just knew that there was warmth. Her body and the temperature around her was warm. Her clothes were still soaked but she was partially warm. She slowly pushed herself up, finding that she was on a solid surface. Looking up, her eyes widened.

Around her was a magnificent city with towers reaching higher than she'd ever seen in London. Over and in the city was the most beautiful piece of what she assumed was art that she had ever seen. It reached high up and around where she was. It was nearly as high as the dome that she was-

Wait, dome? Why was the city in a dome? This was unheard of in the 1880s, especially on Earth.

“Where in the bloody world am I?” she asked aloud. She wouldn't allow her voice to show it, but she was honestly scared. She didn't know where she was or what was going on. All she knew was that she was wet from falling into the ocean and she was still somewhat cold.

Sneezing, Grell slowly got up and looked at her new surroundings. It was a strange place, that was for certain. But what was an unfamiliar place if not somewhere that she could make a new start. No one to make fun of her. No one to tell her what she could and couldn't do. No one to tell her she wasn't a woman. No rules of the Shinigami Dispatch to worry about. She could dress however she wanted in as much red as she wanted. She could wear dresses and female kimonos even.

But that's when she felt something... familiar. The scent was faint but it was there. It made her heart skip a beat. There was no way it was true.

“Oooo!!! Sebas-chan!” she called out, suddenly forgetting she was wet at all and going off in search of her beloved demon.

[ Character's Name ] : Sollux Captor
[ Character's Age ] : 6 sweeps
[ Series ] : Homestuck
[ Canon Point ] : I'll be taking him from the point where he's in the midst of using his powers to tow the asteroid to the Green Sun. The effort kills him, and he'll wake up in Vatheon instead of being half-dead and floating around in the Furthest Ring with Aradia.

[ History ] :
Let me tell you about Homestuck

[ Personality ] :
In many ways, Sollux is your classic socially-inept computer nerd, destined to live in his parents' basement until well past 30. Fortunately, he's a troll, and so he doesn't have parents. Or maybe unfortunately.

He is quite bi-polar, able to go from happy and sweet to pissed off and mean and back in the blink of an eye. Trolls are pretty moody, as a race, but Sollux is one of the worst, because of his mutant, bifurcated brain.

Sollux also has terrible self esteem. Though he can often joke and make fun of people easily, he also loathes himself and when that switch flips in his brain, he's as likely to start talking about what a freak and a loser he is, as he is to fly off the handle. He's quite introverted, and self-conscious of his lisp and physical abnormalities, so he can be quite quiet and withdrawn in person, but he's a whiz-kid with computers, capable of feats of programming that shouldn't actually be possible (such as remotely blowing up a computer through a few lines of script). He knows he's apeshit bananas with computers, but thinks he's pretty much useless with everything else. And sometimes, he even beats himself up over his computer skills, thinking he could be better.

He's also psychic, which is another source of self-loathing as well as pride for Sollux. He is completely badass, having powerful telekinetic powers that make weapons unnecessary, and the ability to put animals and weak-minded sentient beings to sleep with a mental concussion as well. But he also hears the screams of the 'imminently deceased', and that fucks with his head, badly. He will easily tell you that he hates his life, and himself, though he won't take anyone talking down his skill with computers or his general badassery.

All that being said, Sollux is a loyal friend and while he's completely unbalanced as far as his mood goes, he's one of the less violent of the trolls. He doesn't tend to initiate violence, though he will egg people on if he thinks they're being dicks, and will happily kick someone's ass if they piss him off enough and challenge him. He's also very brave, and will unthinkingly sacrifice his life (and does) to save a friend.

He's a close friends of Karkat's, and his insults towards kk come off as more affectionate than truly mean, though they have a tendency to egg each other on and their insults can become outrageous when they get really going. He had (has?) a deep crush on Aradia before her death, and was developing a moiralleigance or possible matespritship with Feferi before shit went down.

Sollux is obsessed with duality and with the colours red and blue. His obsession is reflected in various nerdy ways, such as the nicknames he gives people, and the way he doubles his i's in his quirk. If he can get away with it, he will set up two of everything and give them red and blue designations (two teams, named team Red and team Blue). He likes to code in red and blue as well. However, after he was blinded he gave up his obsession with duality and calmed down a bit, becoming far more 0kay with everything.

He often gives everyone two-letter nicknames, generally the same letter repeated if he can get away with it, though he can't always. His introversion and general apathy led him to dismiss the trolling of the kids as pointless (he was probably right) and so he has had little interaction with humans.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
+ Sollux is loyal, intelligent and brave. He actually has quite a few positive personality traits, and is quite caring and self-sacrificing when it comes to those people who are important to him. Others he couldn't care less about and can be quite callous - but that's sort of the way it is, being from a violent and psychopathic race of insect aliens.

- He has incredibly low self-esteem and is prone to huge mood-swings. He can be very difficult to deal with because of his unpredictable emotions and his tendency to become depressed at the drop of a hat. His manic extreme is almost as bad. He can get over-focused and obsessed, and forget to eat or sleep when he's in one of his manic phases.

+ Sollux has extremely powerful and badass psychic abilities.

- Sollux is skinny and physically weak.

+ Sollux is an incredibly good programmer. He is capable of writing a line of code that'll remotely blow up a computer when run. Between the versatility of the programming language ~ATH and his mad skillz, there's little he probably can't do with computers.

- He's a gigantic nerd.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
The Psiioniic/Helmsman is Sollux's ancestor and shares his mutations.

[ Sample ] :
And here is a link for IC comments. There's text and action in there, so I hope it provides a good impression of how I play Sollux. (Note about his quirk: The Sollux I'm playing here was taken from pretty close to the same timepoint, however he had been in Polychromatic long enough to regrow his teeth. So his quirk had adopted the 2's, to reflect his lisp, but he continued to use the 0s to reflect his new view on life and rejection of duality. I hope that makes sense xD;;;; I expect he'll do the same thing in Vatheon when the time comes.)

Here is another post I did more recently, in Animus, where I play Sollux from an earlier timepoint.

[ Character's Name ] : Gale
[ Character's Age ] : Technically around 5, but physically and mentally, in his twenties.
[ Series ] : Digital Devil Saga
[ Canon Point ] : The end of the first game, just before appearing in the real world.

[ History ] :
(history on Gale's wiki page)
(More complete history on Serph's wiki page)

[ Personality ] : Gale is the strategist of the Embryon, and his personality reflects that. He is quick to assess facts, and acknowledge them. He easily accepts the hindrance of the Embryon's small size, for example, and concentrates on finding plans that hide that weakness, and allow them to compete with the other tribes in the Junkyard. He is also quick to understand what is happening in a battle, and to act on that knowledge- in the fight against Varin (Colonel Beck), he is the first to properly notice the invisibility he is using, and to attempt to fight back. Even when situations seem improbable or nonsensical, he accepts the evidence presented to him, and considers it in his plans. Even when he does not understand the emotions the others are gaining, he notices the changes in them. He also recognizes the significance of these changes- although he still is without feelings, he is the one to explain to the other members of the Embryon that emotions are the reason that the tribes are beginning to disobey the law of the Karma Temple. He does not understand the changes that are happening around him, but he does everything he can to understand them, in order to be the best strategist to the Embryon that he can.

As strategist, logic is the thing that is foremost in Gale's mind. He has no qualms in betraying other tribes if it will bring the Embryon closer to Nirvana, and in fact most of his plans utilize this, since it is clear that the Embryon will not be able to reach Nirvana through brute force. Neither does he see see anything wrong with personal betrayal, at first- even after witnessing Bat betray his tribe and almost steal Sera from the Embryon, he comments that Bat would make a better ally than Cielo, who was the one who let Sera get captured in the first place, despite his best efforts. And, when Sera's singing helps him to regain control of his Atma and prevents him from eating Cielo, he is not thankful, but is rather curious about her abilities and somewhat suspicious of them. This cold attitude only changes once he gains his emotions.

Because it takes him so long to awaken to his emotions, Gale is in some ways alienated from the other members of the Embryon for much of his canon, simply because he is not operating on the same wavelength as the others (though the fact that he is not one of the Sera-created AIs may have something to do with this, as well). His adherence to logic rather than switching to operating on feelings puts him at odds with the increasingly compulsive members of the tribe- particularly Argilla and Cielo, who disagree with his objective attitude. He, in turn, is rather harsh on the inconsistencies and weaknesses he sees their new emotions bringing. Perhaps because of Serph's quietness, and perhaps because Serph is leader, there is not much tension between him and the protagonist. Although Gale is dubious of the changes Sera and the Atma have brought to the Junkyard, he trusts in his leader's judgement, and later hers, when she informs him that Serph and the others are in danger. Gale is the spokesman of the Embryon, and although at times he may seem to run the show, he will always be willing to defer to Serph's judgement, (though he will always advise what he believes is the best course of action). In the meantime, he serves in a position that Serph has delegated to him. At first, this is largely because questioning a leader is unthinkable in the Junkyard, but as time goes on and he gains his emotions, he feels respect for Serph, in the same way that he comes to view the other members of the Embryon as his comrades, and cares for them.

Gale's "awakening" to his emotions is rather different from what the others in the Embryon go through. Rather than happening once, abruptly, it almost happens several times, only for him to switch almost immediately back to apathy. It is only after the death of another tribe leader, Lupa of the Wolves, that he begins to change. In fact, Lupa is almost entirely responsible for the kind of person he becomes. It is Lupa who tells him of honor, and impresses him with it. Coming across Lupa's kills in the waterways shows him that his honor is not a weakness- he defeats everyone in his path- nor does it dull his ability to think, for he is the one who points out to the Embryon that there are no children in the Junkyard, though they know what a child is. This realization has such an impact on him that he begins to adopt Lupa's ideas of honor for his own, and when Lupa dies, he tells him that Lupa's honor will not die with him- that it will live on in Gale, and the child that Lupa told him of. In short, he completely abandons the underhanded tactics he was willing to use before to destroy the other tribes. Furthermore, his interactions with Lupa completely destroy his faith in the Law of the Karma Temple. Even before Lupa's death, he questions the law that states that the heads of all other tribes must be defeated in order for them to ascend for Nirvana, and says that if the Karma Temple will not make an exception for Lupa, he will destroy it without hesitation. Upon Lupa's death, he swears to get revenge upon the Karma Temple, for (however indirectly) leading to the death of the man he admired. Where before Gale simply did what was expected of him, now, he had a purpose- to carry on Lupa's honor and message, and to give meaning to his death.

Even through his anger at Lupa's death, however, he is not completely bloodthirsty and out for revenge. When confronted with Angel, the one who introduced the Atma and who commanded them to slaughter, he does not attack her or hate her. In fact, when the Karma Temple is crumbling, he helps her, rather than to leave her to die in the Junkyard as it is destroyed. Some of this may be remnants of the personality of the real man David that are inside of him. However, Gale the AI is not a copy of David the human in the way that Serph and the others were copies of actual people.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Serph, like the other members of the Junkyard, has an Atma, a demon contained within him. His Atma is known as Vayu, and Is indicated by the Twister mark on his left calf. When he is transformed into Vayu, he gains increased strength stamina, and resistance to wind (called Force) magics, as well as the ability to use magic. However, in this form, he is weak to electricity-based attacks. Vayu also has blades on its feet that it uses to attack.

The spells Vayu can use are as follows:

Zandyne: A strong wind (Force) spell that targets one enemy.
Mazandyne: A strong wind (Force) spell that targets multiple enemies.
Force Drain: Defends against Force (wind) magic for a short amount of time.
Media: moderately increases the health of all allies.
Tarukaja: Increases physical strength of all allies.
Makanda: Decreases an enemy's magical strength.
Tarunda: Decreases an enemy's physical strength.
Analyze: reveals enemy's health, magical ability, and any elemental affiliation.

As a human, Gale is not as strong as his Atma form, and does not have the ability to use magic. However, he is skilled in the use of firearms, particularly an assault rifle. In addition, he is able to fight with a knife hidden in his right boot- a particular movement of his foot brings out the blade, allowing him to enhance his kicks in a rather deadly way.

Gale has the potential to go into a form known as Berserk form, during which his eyes turn gold, and his right leg transforms into Vayu's. The transformation happens during times with strong 'Solar Noise', and during it, he literally goes berserk, with little control, and no magic. However, this kind of transformation happens only during the Solar Noise!

[ Other Important Facts ] :
Serph, like the other members of the Embryon, needs to eat other people in order to stay alive. If he does not, he will lose control of Vayu, and the demon will rampage. This rampage can be stalled, up to a certain point, by the singing of a girl known as Sera, but without her in Vatheon, he will regularly need to eat the bodies of other humans in order to remain in control.

[ Sample ] :
[The SFC turns on, and it only takes Gale a moment to realize it. He did most of his fiddling with it before turning the video on, so it only takes him a moment to get to his message. He's sharp and to the point about it all, just as he's been since he arrived. This is a completely new situation, and there's a lot he needs to learn about it before he's satisfied that what he knows is enough to advise the Embryon.]

My name is Gale, of the Embryon tribe. [He tilts his head slightly, so that the stripes of orange on the side of his hood are visible. Then it's back to business.] I am searching for the son of Lupa. I was told that he would be carrying an olive leaf. I carry a message for him, from his father.

I also request information on the arrivals to this place. Specifically, any seeming patterns in arrival from particular worlds, or patterns in connections between those who arrive. What is the average number of arrivals?
