The NPCs
◣ The NPCs ◢
The NPCs of Vatheon, once only accessible by their own volition of appearance, are now round-the-clock contactable by the Vatheonites— via a newly implemented voice mail system! Feel free to contact any of the NPCs down below via their corresponding thread, and specify between VIDEO/VOICE/TEXT should you choose to do so. This page also contains each NPC's profile, which elaborates on some of the known details and information pertaining to each NPC.
THALASSINO
STATUS unknown
INFO The renowned head priestess of Vatheon. She seemed to know a lot, but never revealed more than what she believed was necessary. She was prominently known for her public appearances involving omens or warnings to the residents of Vatheon. She was killed while the coral was being repaired in Year 3.
|
STATION MASTER
STATUS active
INFO The station master in charge of the elevator to the upper island. He's a man of few (if any) words, but he's always smiling. It also seems that he enjoys making hot chocolate and baking cookies.
|
ALPHA
STATUS missing
INFO A rather rude scientist who had accumulated the most interaction with the citizens of Vatheon. Although he possessed a sharp tongue and pessimistic attitude, it became evident over time that he had warmed up to the Vatheonites. He was last seen after overseeing the construction and subsequent completion of the elevator to the island— and since then has been rather quiet.
|
CAROL
STATUS active
INFO A moody grad student who seems to be searching for something. According to Thalassino, Carol freed the priestess from the secret facility on the island prior to its partial destruction. No further information.
|
HEAD NURSE
STATUS active
INFO A very friendly nurse who took over all medical and pharmaceutical affairs after Alpha's "retirement". She was the mastermind behind the murder and decapitation of a nurse in April which turned out to be an April Fool's "prank". No further information.
|
The Cleric
STATUS active
INFO Anyone wishing to talk to C will have to do so in person. Luckily she can often be found near the storage building on the island. If you just wait around there for a little while, she is sure to appear.

[Sorry, his matesprit uses that tactic all the time, Cici, Darkleer notices.]
Something worrying you? Besides the normal, I mean to say.

I like to think they would be able to. I know quite a few individuals in Vatheon are used to fighting others, and could kill if they needed to.
I know the trolls- the adults if nothing else- would be able to easily take up arms against any humans. Perhaps it would make that wretched beast we keep in the caverns do something useful for once.
[Fuck clowns, man.]
[...Not literally. This time. Really.]
no subject
[Oh, she's probably worried him now, hasn't she?]
Sorry. I've just been thinking - if Athena almost had enough data before, how much longer is she going to run this project? What's she going to do when it's done?
[What if she does just want to dispose of everyone? They've all been stuck in the city so long that most of them are nearly as complacent as the natives. Cici's worried about her own fate as well. She certainly doesn't want to die in an "accident" like Thalassino.]
no subject
[Quite a compliment, you know.]
It seems like the easiest option was to leave us all to our own devices, but... That could always change. Hopefully we'll be able to get more chances to undermine her soon. She clearly doesn't like that us foreigners were somehow able to figure out a way to keep this whole thing going on still.
I'll make sure to try and keep you safe, Miss Cici.

Hey, don't worry too much about me. As long as you all don't go telling them who I am, I can take care of myself. But... if you could look out for the other people down there who haven't woken up yet, I'd like that. They really can't think for themselves, after all.

[Look how happy he is at the prospect.]
no subject
Sure, let's see it.
no subject
[It's pretty big, too, as tall as Darkleer and that's saying something. It's not as bulky as him, however, and seems pretty flexible! Just like a real octopus, really, tricky creatures that they are and which can squeeze through strange spaces. It manages to stay upright fairly well, tentacles supporting it as it slithers throughout the building.]
I hope you like it! I had to do a lot of testing to make sure that it would perform a wide variety of tasks and be able to survive both on land and underwater!
no subject
An octopus is a really versatile creature. Well, a live one can't survive on land for all that long, but this guy should be able to. Can it perform water rescue?
[She pities unsuspecting people getting rescued by this thing, though.]
no subject
Oh yes, it should be able to recognize the actual signs of drowning and react promptly. I thought it only common sense.
no subject
[She pauses, then reaches out to shake the tentacle. The cleric is not particularly squeamish, and if this thing is supposed to be programmed to help people it likely won't hurt her.]
no subject
[He falls silent for a moment, thinking about Zelda.]
[The octopus, in the meantime, snakes its tentacle around her wrist a bit. There's some obvious strength behind it, certainly more than enough to help drag individuals out of harms way. It can't do CPR, but hey- no one's perfect.]
[Darkleer rouses himself.]
I'm glad you approve of it. I really should get back to the hoofbeasts, but I do have one last thing for you.
no subject
[She gently pulls away, not wanting to startle the thing. If it can even be startled. She's not sure if it can think or if it just has some kind of program, but it seems fairly advanced.
Really, the idiots in charge of this project should have been asking these people for help all along.]
You do?
no subject
Yes! You are one of our most important allies- well, really one out of two, so we can't afford to be picky although I imagine at this point that quiet distrust is unavoidable, so I wanted to make sure you were taking care of yourself.
[Pop! That sure is a nice little glass bottle of milk suddenly in his hands, capped and everything, along with a sandwich.]
[The milk is lusus milk. The more you know. Enjoy that.]
I know you can no doubt take care of yourself, as you are quite a resourceful woman, but still, I do not see you very often.
no subject
Which could come in handy, admittedly.]
Thanks. And we see each other more than you think - I just don't say anything.
[She grins at that. Cici blends right in with the other locals walking around with blank looks on their faces and often doesn't get noticed because of it.]
no subject
I'm sure you don't. Anyway, that's all I wanted to discuss. Stay safe. I have hoofbeasts to tend to.
no subject
[She opens the milk bottle curiously. Best try it while it's fresh!
Oh. Oh, that's definitely not cow's milk. It doesn't taste bad, it's actually pretty good, but... what it is it? He's still present so she'll just keep drinking it like not knowing its origins doesn't bother her.]
no subject
[But he said he was leaving, so he just gives a little wave and a smile before doing so.]
[Maybe if she mentions this little exchange to the Station Master, he'll remember all the musclebeast milk Darkleer left him.]
