Below is a place to thread out quick little conversations with the NPCs that aren't worth an entire log. Vatheon's staple NPCs will have postings here, and all the other new quest NPCs will simply be listed under the "Quest NPCs" comment header. Please put in the subject line which quest you're talking with an NPC about!

[When the curse first started up and Karkat saw that he was a cleric in a somewhat silly outfit, he was mad. Healer classes are boring as hell, and how's he supposed to beat up monsters like this? (Let others do it and heal them, but shh.)]

[Still, an RPG curse means quests. He hunted down the quest board, made himself a list of things ranked between what he could conceivably do on his own and what would take help (meatshields), and what would take priority among them. First off, why not go and do the cleric quest to get a helpful ability? Sounds stupid not to, even if the idea of a quest about faith is weird to him.]

[That's why he's hunted down this white-robed woman, staff in mittened hand, and the usual grumpy look present on his face.]

Hey. You're the person for the cleric quest, right?

[Karkat isn't the only battle-impotent magikarp cleric who's fed up here. The woman eyes him critically.]

No, of course not. I'm just standing around here waiting for nothing.

[Yes, she's the cleric skill master.]

[Karkat scowls, mouth digging down at the corners. You've done it, white-robed woman.]

My deepest apologies for wanting a little confirmation. There are only a jillion other people wandering around for this, so god forbid I don't know the right woman in the right robes the first instant I see her. What if who I found was the woman in off white robes, or cream, or eggshell, or whatever other pretentious shade of white you can come up with.

[The mini-speech is accompanied by little gestures and taps of his staff on the cobbles.]

But if you're the one for the quest, then get to it, and spare me the awful human sarcasm.

[ So this whole quest thing RPG thing sounded pretty awesome. And he wanted to rack up as many points as he possibly could. Which is why he almost looked over THIS quest. No points? Pffft, no point to it then.

Buuuut... it was easy. Just talk to some chick, right? And then you get some skill. And more skills means quests are easier or some shit. Either way it couldn't hurt. He could spare a few minutes. Hell maybe it was some crazy awesome death ray beam! He'd be insane not to jump all over that. ]

Hey! I'm looking for The Chick in White. That's you, right?

[ She was wearing white! Then again there were a bunch of white wearing people around. But she had that sort of blatant 'I AM A QUEST NPC' look about her. ]

[It's true, she does. It's almost like there's an icon floating above her head...

She turns to Devit with a long-suffering sigh. Who is this kid? Do they let anyone into the clergy nowadays?]

If you're looking for the cleric skill master, then yes. If you're looking for something else, don't waste my time.

Yeah gorgeous, you're exactly the skill master I'm looking for.

[ ...Can't help to try and butter her up a LITTLE, right? ]

I hear you're the expert, so lay some wisdom on me!

[ Feferi is on the hunt, all the easy quests must be completed--!

So of course, the role-specific quest is high on the list. She'll just bounce her way on over. ]

Glub glub glub, there you are. You're in white and robes and a lady, so teach me all the exciting stuff!

[Wow, look, a bubbly female cleric! She'll be crushed by the weight of her own party's stupidity in no time, undoubtedly.]

Please. Do you really think that's an appropriate way to ask someone for help? Don't just demand it!

[ Or they'll be crushed under the bubbliness, one of the two.

She makes a few perplexed glubbing sounds before she replies: ] There's no reason you need to have a whale of a chip on your nub about it. Come on, I'll even say please this one time. Please?

[Finding the lady in white was on his list of things to do, and seeing as he wasn't in the middle of something and the woman he spotted seemed to fit the bill, he decided to fill that quest now.

Donning his more knightly (and more respectful) persona, he approached the woman and offered a small bow as he might have to a person of higher class or rank back in the day; after all, that was pretty much what she was.]

Might I have the honor of speaking with the Cleric skill master?

[She looks over at him, arms crossed. Look out Johnny, this lady has a chip on her shoulder.]

Yeah, sure. You feeling honored yet?

[He tried very hard to make sure his 'charming smile' didn't turn into an amused smirk.]

Why of course. I was wondering what I might have to do to receive your wisdom.

[Why, no, he isn't going to give this angle up.]

[ Without her marbles - and the color sight they give her, Anna only has a guess that this lady is in white. She could be in a very pale shade of... something, that looks white, so she's a little unsure if this is the right lady.

So she'll hold her book and shift a little uneasily in her new red dress. ]

[The little ones are always the worst. She knows they have good in their heart, but she also knows what they'll have to go through as a cleric...]

[ Sadly, it might not be much compared to what she has already gone through. But it's probably still a good thing she doesn't have her powers during this... ]

[ She's feeling pretty sure this is the rigt lady, but double checking doesn't hurt. ]

[When Hubert gets a moment away from his companions he decides to get a leg up on one of the solo quests, searching out the woman in white described on the cleric quest.

He approaches, tucking his odd magic-pistol set away and pushing his glasses up as he gives a polite half-bow.]

Good afternoon. Are you the woman I need to speak to regarding the cleric skill?

[Well, what a polite kid. Strange weapon, though. The woman sighs, rolling her shoulders.]

Yup, that's me. Cleric Skill Master. And they said I wouldn't amount to anything.

[He does try. And the weapon was interesting to note, after seeing what most clerics got, but it did make sense given his own multi-fauceted weapon.]

I'm not sure who "they" are, but it seems to me you've more than proven yourself, if you're good enough to pass on skills to other clerics.

[Equius remembers being this class before, and how frustrating it was not being able to defend himself. He wants to level up, and quickly, so he can get that Holy spell again. As such, he takes the time to seek out the woman in white robes, and he'll remember all the manners and good conduct first Aurthor and then Darkleer taught him.]

Excuse me, my lady, but may I ask you a question?

[He's so genuinely polite that even the incredibly sassy cleric skill master doesn't see a reason to jab at him... yet. She raises a brow at him, then unfolds her arms and nods.]

Hey. So. What exactly am I supposed to do to learn this Cleric skill from you?

Try acting like you actually care a little and I'll think about telling you.

[She is THIS CLOSE to snapping and smiting the next new cleric that comes up to her demanding to know what to do right away.]

Laharl's cloak identifies him as a cleric, but he certainly doesn't have the attitude for it.]

Oi, woman. Let's get this over with.
