◣ Application ◢

APPLICATIONS ARE Closed

Applications will always be open from the 22nd until the end of the month, 12:00am EST.

Please note that as of July 28th, Vatheon will start working towards end game.

August 31st is the last day for applying. We will no longer open applications after that. Thank you for your consideration.

» Please make sure that you read the rules, and check the reserves before applying. People who do not read the rules will be rejected immediately.

» You are allowed to apply for two characters per application cycle. You may also reserve two characters. We will try to review each application as soon as possible. If longer than a week has passed and you have not heard back anything about your application, please drop us a message.

» Don't lie in your application. Don't copy / paste things from wiki. Keep what you post in your application strictly you. Sure, it's hard to add your own flair to writing history or a personality, but try to keep from summarizing too much. Show us your shine! Plagiarizing another player's application is ground for an immediate rejection.

» If someone has a reserve for a character, and you want to apply for them, you have the choice of either A) challenging the application with one of your own or B) waiting until the reserve expires and then applying/reserving as the character. If you challenge the original reserver, your application will not be reviewed until the original reserver has submitted theirs.

» Currently, the character limit is five characters. Any more is up to the mods, and must be discussed ahead of time with them. You may only apply for two characters from the same canon.

» Keep spamming to a minimum on the applications. Wait until that person is accepted into the game before holding out a conversation on a thread. Comment spamming here makes things cluttered, and a mod may accidentally miss something important. ( But feel free to comment-spam the Reserve page, if you'd like. )

» Please don't skip over any section of the application below.

» Please finish your application before posting. We reserve the right to decline any applications that are still unfinished when we process them.

» When reviewing applications, we take opinions of our members into consideration. If you would like to make a comment about an app that is being decided upon, do not hesitate. Here is where you can leave a comment with what you thought of another app. All comments will be screened for privacy, and the option to be anon will be left on. Do note, player opinions do not decide if an application is accepted or not, but will be taken into consideration.

( Player Name ) : A nickname will work. Whatever you would like to be listed as.
( Personal DW ) : Not your character's journal. Your own, just in case one of the mods ever needs to contact you that way.
( Age ) : No players under the age of 15, please!
( Timezone ) : Just for reference sake!
( Other Characters ) : At Vatheon, that is. Please list in the following format.
Character ( Character's Journal ) | Series

☆ Character - - -

( Character's Name ) :
( Character's Age ) : There is no set age limit for the characters, and in fact, this is very flexible. So long as your character is mature enough to take care of him or herself and is mature enough for the game, they can be apped! As a basic guideline, think the maturity of someone around the age of 13 or so.
( Series ) :
( Canon Point ) : What part of the story of the series is your character coming in after? Did he or she just die? Did something traumatic just happen? Is it near the end, the beginning, or the middle? Tell us!
( Playability ) : If you are apping your second person for a particular canon, please give us a quick reasoning on why the characters would not be extensively interacting/how you are planning to avoid any playercest issues. If you are not apping from a canon you already play in, please disregard this section.

( History ) : You may provide us with a link to a wiki-page, or something else that will sufficiently give the Community and the mods background on your canon. If you wish to write out the history yourself, you still may do such.

( Personality ) : Probably the most important part of the application! Tell us what your character is like. We're looking for a well-developed analysis of the character. Perhaps between three to five paragraphs, roughly. Feel free to do more or less, however, if you think that better suits you. Most applications will be closer to the three than the five, and that's completely okay!

Just make sure to hit on crucial aspects of that character. What does he or she like? What does he or she hate? What are his or her motives? What parts of your character's past influenced how they are? Does your character act differently in front of different groups of people? Think of these questions as you write. Feel free to go off the page and focus on other questions. The above questions were just to get you thinking.

( Strengths/Weaknesses ) : So tell us! What can your character do well? What is your character weak against? Any cool spells? Good at picking locks? Anything you can think of, put it here.

( Other Important Facts ) : Have something else important to mention about your character that doesn't really fit in anywhere else? Be sure to include it here!

( Sample ) : This can be in first person or third person. There's no limit to your sample post. Just be sure to include your character's voice. Don't just write your character walking around! Be sure to include thoughts, quirks, and anything else that shows us you know your character. How would he or she react to the mark? How would he or she react to waking up some place new? Is he or she still brooding over something? The sample does not have to be set in Vatheon. You may also link to other roleplay threads; just be sure to give us something that shows how you plan to play them and clearly shows their voice! Or feel free to do a few of the above. Whatever you think will best show your characterization.

Please note! If you are linking samples, please make sure that at least one sample is from within the last three months. You are still free to link other samples that are older in addition, if you feel these would help show your ability to play the character, but at least one sample needs to be recent. Thank you.

If you are unable to think of a good starting point for a sample, we collected some prompts of situations that are pretty likely to happen within Vatheon to start you off. You are very welcome to deviate from these prompts or come up with something completely new. This is just something to hopefully help you get started:

A new curse has settled upon the city of Vatheon: Suddenly you character realizes they are unable to lie for the duration of a week. How do they react?

What is this? Is that rain? How nice-- wait a minute, is it raining rubber duckies? Seriously?

Suddenly, by the force of Vatheon, an over zealous npc, or even your character's friends playing a joke, your character suddenly finds themselves wearing clothes they otherwise would never wear. What do?

The city of Vatheon is under attack (again). Giant sea-creatures are wrecking the city (again). Time to prepare for battle.

A new plot development has happened and your character has decided to get some more information from one of the NPCs. How do they proceed?

( Questions? Comments? Concerns? ) : Tell us here!

( Other Important Facts ) :
There's no offical age for Silver, but he's at least a few years older than the MC is. He's keeping his Vatheon Memories and comes with a pokemon team based on the player choosing cyndiquil at the start..

[There is a grumpy, wet and very disgruntled Silver on the screen.] Tch. This place seems to really love me, huh? Right, whatever. It's not like I care.

[A lie. He does. He's silent for a while as he mulls things over. Being back in Vatheon means a lot of things to him; most of it, it's... home. Or, not o much home but a comfortable place to be, most of the time.] ... Tch. I guess I should ask what I've missed, who's still here from my world, or who has pokemon. One of you morons better be ready to battle.

Is Amane still here? N-Not that it matters if she's gone. [He looks away, arms crossed, but he can't hide that he does care about her and the thought that she'd have gone home... isn't one that he wants to entertain.] But it would be... you know, nice to know if my girlfriend's still around.

[A few seconds before he crosses his arms, looking even more disgruntled.] ...Hmph. Anyone up for a battle? My team needs the work out.

( Character's Name ) : Zack Fair
( Character's Age ) : 23
( Series ) : Final Fantasy VII Compilation
( Canon Point ) : End of Advent Children Complete, when he walks out of the church with Aerith
( Playability ) : n/a

( History ) :
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Zack_Fair#Early_Life

( Personality ) :

One would think that a genetically and physically enhanced fighter out of his Planet’s most elite military unit would be a bit more serious. While Zack has his moments and knows when to get down to work, he’s surprisingly cheerful and kind. He’s rarely if ever rude or standoffish to a stranger or someone he cares about, unless they’ve done something to warrant it. He’s usually wearing a smile, and has no problem approaching people and striking up a conversation. Part of this stems from him just being very outgoing. It’s also due to him having an incredible amount of confidence. In Crisis Core, an NPC asks Zack who’s the best looking person in Midgar. One of the dialogue options is: “Are you blind? Me, of course!” Luckily Zack isn’t obnoxious about his confidence. Rather, it just comes naturally to him. He’s good looking and a good fighter, and he knows it.

On top of that, he’s something of a flirt. When he first meets Cissnei, he thinks she’s a damsel in distress and immediately goes to her rescue. He’s surprised to find she’s a Turk. Nonetheless, that doesn’t stop him from flirting with her a bit and trying to be charming. This is even more the case when he first meets Aerith. After crashing through the roof of the church she’s in, he quickly offers her a date with him in thanks for helping him wake up.

A lot of his more outstanding traits (his cheerfulness, flirtatiousness, naivety) slowly wears down a bit and is kept more in check as he grows older. Some of it is the result of simple aging; one does a lot of growing up between the ages of 16 and 23. But the events concerning Genesis and Angeal, and ultimately the actions taken by Shinra and SOLDIER make him become a little cynical. It’s seen in the later parts of Crisis Core: he’s less enthusiastic about his missions and a bit more sarcastic. Actually, more of his interactions in general take more of a snarky/sarcastic tone as the game progresses. Nonetheless, despite his development, he still remains an unfailingly happy ball of energy.

Zack Fair | Final Fantasy VII Compilation (2/2)

[personal profile] ugly_soldier_dude 2012-10-22 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously, he never seems to get tired or worn out. He’s always on the go and wanting to be doing something. Again, it eases off a bit as he aged and he’s more in control of himself, he always seems at the ready. Nothing stops him or deters him. Even when at his final stand outside of Midgar, facing down what seems like half the Shinra Army, he just scoffs at the “steep price of freedom” and proceeds to duke it out until he’s finally shot down.

Zack adheres to a strict moral and honor code, passed onto him by his mentor, Angeal. He always believes in his SOLDIER honor (even at the end, when Shinra is after him as an escaped fugitive) and believes in doing what is right. When first tasked with hunting down Angeal, Zack protests, despite orders. Luckily, Sephiroth agreed with him, and he was able to let Angeal remain out of Shinra’s grasp until his death. Seeing Genesis betray SOLDIER, calling its members monsters, and Angeal falling into despair over being a “monster” himself, makes Zack really step back and reevaluate what it means to be a SOLDIER and what holding onto your honor really entails.

Over time, to him, that honor became protecting his duty as a member of SOLDIER to protecting those closest to him. One thing about Zack that has never wavered is his loyalty. SOLDIER was important to him, yes, but Angeal was more important. So was Aerith, and Cloud as well, enough that he died protecting him in the end. He fought his way back to Midgar, the hub of Shinra, not only to save Cloud from mako poisoning, but to reunite with Aerith as well, even after four years of being trapped by Hojo. Sadly, it’s what ultimately brings about his demise, but it’s also what saves Cloud, and with his final breaths, he passes his sword and legacy onto Cloud.

Even in death, Zack retains his cheerfulness and optimism. He’s more at peace, since his troubles are over, but that doesn’t stop him from assisting and encouraging Cloud when he’s beaten down by Sephiroth in Advent Children, reminding him to remember his SOLDIER honor (even though he never made it into SOLDIER, but it’s the inside that counts!) and reminds him that he’s his living legacy.

( Strengths/Weaknesses ) :

Strengths:
- He’s a powerful fighter
- Confident
- Cheerful and outgoing
- Always willing to help out
- Very, very loyal
Weaknesses:
- He can be a bit cynical at times, especially concerning his past
- His never failing energy can be a bit off-putting
- Doesn’t always know when to quit
- He holds people to his standards and moral code, which can be a tall order
- Has a tendency to lecture when he catches you in the wrong

( Other Important Facts ) :
Zack has undergone mako treatments, making his eyes glow. It also makes him very strong and powerful, with some fast reflexes. I imagine it’ll be watered down while in Vatheon, but the glow should still remain. Other than that, nothing I can think of?

( Sample ) :

[Cloud was finally okay again. Relieved and satisfied, Zack turns around and walks out of the church with Aerith –

And finds himself smack dab in the middle of what looks like a plaza. Soaking wet for no apparent reason. In life and as a spirit roaming the Lifestream, with a strong enough will to interact with the living, Zack’s done and seen his fair share of strange things, but… this is new.

He inhales deeply, and that alone is enough to startle him. He’s breathing. Air in his lungs means life. But how? He’s been dead for two years now. How can he suddenly be alive again?

For that matter, how is he in an underwater city? As he looks around, he feels a sense of unease. Only Shinra could have managed something like this, and from what he can see, there’s no sign of Shinra technology around here. Not to mention an underwater city was totally unnecessary…]

Excuse me! Sir, can you tell me where I am?

[Someone who looks like a local passed by him, and Zack had taken the chance to step in front of him and ask what was going on.

His answer was a cheerful “Welcome to Vatheon!” before the local went on his way. The blank look and enforced cheerfulness was… a little disturbing. And where the hell was Vatheon? He’d never heard of it before.

As he scratches the back of his head, he notices something on his bicep. Lowering his arm, he examines it to find the mark of a foreigner. Well, this was interesting. Of course he tries to rub it off. And of course it doesn’t work.

It reminds him of a prison tattoo, and that’s when the idea of being kidnapped enters his mind. But how does someone kidnap a dead person? Still, he had just appeared here, almost like magic. He’s breathing and living like he hasn’t in two years. There was no denying that. How, he didn’t know.

Well, might as well not pass up the chance. He’s alive. Not every day someone can say they get a second lease on life.]

Oh, man. What a weird turn this day’s taken.

[If he’s gonna be here, he might as well gather some intel and get a feel for his surroundings, right?]

Locals seem a little loopy. I should probably try to find someone else to help me out.

[And maybe find a towel. ‘Cause he’s still wet. With that he sets off, a smile on his face as he takes in his surroundings.]
Wonder if Aerith got brought here, too…

( Character's Name ) : Jinana
( Character's Age ) : Unknown, adult. Her age is never mentioned, but she appears to be in her twenties.
( Series ) : Digital Devil Saga
( Canon Point ) : Post death, after her emotions awaken and she is defeated by the Embryon. Prior to this, her 'loyal' follower Bat had sold the entire group out to the Solids
( Playability ) : N/A

( History ) :
Jinana's wiki page.
Digital Devil Saga main page.
If this isn't enough, I will gladly write out a summary.

( Personality ) :
Jinana's personality prior to the Junkyard has never been shown, leaving it entirely in the hands of the Jinana who leads the Maribel. In an early scene - the Karma Temple's meeting of leaders - Jinana asks only one question.

"What is a demon?"

It is the most important question; she likely knows already that some of her people have begun to lose control, some to gain emotions. Later conversations with ex-members of the Maribel show that most of them are very fond of her and it is implied that she is fond of them. While they were not a 'family', they were still a 'Tribe'. And it still makes her sad to have her people die and rise to the sky as rain.

Emotions are an entirely new thing to her and she is often confused by them - as well as by the concepts of things such as 'god' and 'curses' which float into her head. Knowledge that people in the 'real world' would consider entirely normal tends to come to the Junkyard inhabitants as terms and phrases that they remember but have to discover the definition to. While she isn't a pacifist, the idea of devouring her prey is not one that appeals to her. It's this aversion that leads her to lose control of herself. Interestingly, even before her humanity fully returns to her, she tells the Embryon to escape before she changes. It is far easier for her to accept her own death than that of her comrades.

The concept of 'comrades', while one she doesn't understand fully, is important to her; she is the one that first gives them the term in her dying moments and it becomes an important theme among the Embryon later. It is that which allows her to regain her humanity. The recognition of Argilla as her comrade awakens her in her last moment. However, an ex-member of the Maribel will tell you that Jinana named them all comrades. Friendship, it seems, is one of those pesky emotions that confuses her so much. It took Argilla's tears to make her realize the point of it.

A few people throughout the game seem to admire her - although certain people seem to admire her body more than anything else. Jinana's Tribe is one of the more scantily-dressed ones, though there is never a sense of sexuality about it.

Jinana is the second of the mentioned characters to develop even faint knowledge of the events that led to the Junkyard's creation and is a fair bit more prone to using trickery than power to keep others away. This might be due to the fact that the Maribel is one of the smallest and thus weakest tribes - albeit one that can stand up to constant bombardment from the Solids. It's mentioned by Gale that while Jinana is skilled, her followers are not. This may well be the reason for the gates and stealth-based attacks used in the base.

Heat refers to her as an incompetent leader after realizing she didn't devour; it's a good point. She knows her situation and the situation of others, yet she puts herself and others at risk by refusing to do it. Her stubbornness seems to be about as strong as her sense of friendship. Jinana is slow to anger, albeit quick to suspicion. Calmness is a great factor in her personality. She doesn't complain of her hunger, even though it must be violent, or appear sorrowful of her own fate.

Even before her emotions fully awakened, Jinana was shown to be the type of person who did not approve of needless slaughter. Could she be described as determined? Yes, indeed - she withstood her hunger without devouring anyone, until Mick the Slug weakened her. Even afterwards, unlike Harley, she regained awareness long enough to converse briefly with Argilla. It's mentioned by her Tribe that she controls whether they devour or not; they say Jinana gave them 'permission' to devour the Embryon if they could. It doesn't work out so well.

As expected of someone who had been fighting for a long time, Jinana - and by extension, the rest of her tribe - was unwilling to trust the intentions of another Tribe until Argilla's sincerity convinced her. However, she expects little but loyalty in those she chooses to give her trust; Bat's betrayal is entirely unexpected to her. Even though it is the Law to obey your leader, Jinana's trust seems to be stronger than even that. Without trust, one cannot rely on anyone, and thus the war is already lost. The decision not to betray the Maribel is what causes her to give Argilla her unique skill in the afterlife.

( Strengths/Weaknesses ) :
Usas Skills
-Null Ailments
-Null Death (opposing force to Expel)
-Null Expel (holy magic)
-Support (summoning spell, rendered inactive by Vatheon)
-Seraph Lore (combo attack, cuts party HP by 8/10ths)
-Whirlwind (Physical attack, random target)
-Marin Karin (single-person charm spell)
-regular single-person attack

As Usas, she has no specific weaknesses.

Personal Strengths/Weaknesses
Her human weapon is never shown; it can be assumed that she is a close-range fighter, like most Tribe leaders. When shown facing down Mick, she is in human form. It is likely that she fears her demonic side and does not want to risk going berserk. As a human, she has no access to the skills mentioned above, or any magic, in fact. She is as vulnerable as any human.

While she is strong, she can be irrational and put herself and others in danger. She's also unstable; if she doesn't devour regularly, she will go berserk, attacking anything in range mindlessly.

( Other Important Facts ) :
Like the rest of the Asura, Jinana really does need to devour people to survive; NPCs might be severely at risk once she comes to terms with this.

( Sample ) :
A 'bubble' surrounding a city. An endless mass of deep blue that stretched into infinity. It seemed impossible that something like this could keep that massive force aside. Jinana's fingerless gloves prodded and touched the bubble slowly.

"This is... 'the ocean', isn't it?" she wondered aloud. The word had risen to the forefront of her mind like so many others. How did she know it? It was a mystery. She had never seen anything like this endless beauty. It felt as though she could become lost within it just from looking at it. A suffocating feeling clouded her mind and she drew herself away from it hurriedly. Every day here, there were new 'words', new 'thoughts' and 'things' and 'people'. It was enough to overwhelm her mind.

On first glance, there was one benefit to this place that she could see.

The rain had stopped.

No matter how many stories people fed her about 'nurses' or Paradise, it was obvious to her how it worked. People did not die here. Therefore, the rain had stopped. People could not return to the world as rain if they did not rise to the heavens. In its own way, this was similar to the Junkyard.

People came as if from nowhere, for a strange purpose, brought by an unknown force that had a vague name. They would band together, or stay apart like rookies. The only true difference was this purpose. It was almost peaceful in comparison.

No. It was peaceful. No matter how many people fought, their purpose was no longer war. It was like an inverse of the world she knew. Was this 'Paradise'?

Or was there something more unkind lurking below the surface?

( Character's Name ) : Chie Satonaka
( Character's Age ) : 16
( Series ) : Name Persona 4
( Canon Point ) : Post true ending (social link maxed)
( Playability ) : N/A
( History ) : Here

( Personality ) :
Chie's a spunky, perky, sporty kind of gal; the kind of girl you definitely want to have on your side. And with her strong sense of loyalty, once you've gotten her on your side, you have a steadfast ally who will have your back in all kinds of situations. On the other hand, if you piss her off, you'll want to run, because she doesn't take things lying down. (Even if you are someone she's loyal to, that doesn't mean you get a free pass if you screw up yourself-- just ask Yosuke.)

Chie has a strong sense of justice and a desire to defend it. She hates bullies, and will often stand up for her classmates-- even ones she may not know well-- if they're being threatened by something they can't handle. She hates the idea of unfairness, and will do her darndest to see that it doesn't happen under her watch. (Of course, if Souji has to remind her of the answer when the teacher asks her a question in class, that's just being a helpful friend. Honest!)

Chie is a very friendly and sociable person, for example, volunteering to have the new kid in class sit next to her, and then offering to show him around town after school is over. She seems to be on good terms with most of her classmates, even if she isn't particularly close to them-- she'll smile and wave and say hello, in any case. She loves sports and phyiscal activities, things that get her outside and get her blood pumping. Rainy days are pure misery (which is unfortunate in a town like Inaba).

Although she presents herself as fairly confident and self-assured, Chie does have her insecurities as well. She's well aware that her best friend Yukiko is more popular among the student body (especially with the boys), and it occasionally makes her feel as though she doesn't measure up. She gets frustrated at not being as school-smart as Yukiko and some of the other Investigation Team members, or feels like she's slowing them down with her dumb ideas. Even so, she's quick to cheer up with a jog by the river or a nice bowl full of steak.

( Strengths/Weaknesses ) : Chie's main strengths are her pumped-up kicks! With her legs of steel she can galactic punt enemies into the stratosphere! Physical situations in general are where Chie really shines, whether it's taking down enemy shadows in the TV world or perfecting her kung fu moves by the riverside. If you need help moving some boxes or opening a pickle jar, Chie's your go-to girl.

Additionally, Chie's got a pretty good knack for figuring out what's going on in a situation, even if she doesn't always mean to. A lot of the time, her crazy conjectures end up hitting pretty close to the eventual truth. In fact, she's a lot more intuitive than she realizes-- most of the time she'll dismiss her own gut instincts, insisting that the others are probably smarter and cleverer than she is.

On that point, Chie's not very book smart. She pulls okay grades in school, partially with the help of Yukiko, but memorizing facts and writing essays are not her strong suit. When it comes to the Investigation Team, she can sometimes fall behind a bit when the others are making connections and solving clues. However, she's well aware that she's more the brawn of the operation than the brains, and she'll gladly step aside so she can focus on helping where she's most needed.

Also, she's a terrible cook.

What you get with Feferi first and foremost is a giggly, bubbly girl that is immensely enthused for all the good things in life and silly maritime puns. She's actually quite awful as far as trolls go, far too friendly and good-natured for a member of her dysfunctional and often quite brutal race. Before Sgrub, she'd much rather play games with her friends and take care of her tons of pet cuttlefish than engage in more traditional troll activities like... well, trolling. Trolling and violence and overall unpleasantness aren't how she rolls as a general rule, mostly because she's way too busy making her life as fun as it can be.

CC: -Everyt)(ing we are about to do next is exciting.

In the same vein as the whole 'being a horrible troll' thing, she also has some fairly social ideas. Given that she lives in a society where the blood-based caste system is literally the be-all-end-all of a troll's entire life, her repeated declarations that "W-E AR-E NOT B-ETT-ER T)(AN ANYBODY!!!!! GLUB. >38(" are more than just eccentric, they're downright crazy. (It helps, however, that her monstrous lusus whispered strange prophecies about uniting the races and put all sorts of strange ideas in her head.) For that matter, she doesn't judge based on appearances either--got any tentacled elder gods the likes of which strike maddening horror into the minds of those unfortunate enough to gaze upon them? She'll cheerfully refer to them as "slumberbuddies" and go on her way.

So what you've got is a sweet-natured troll that generally sucks at trollish behaviors and lacks any reasonable sense of fear. That might sound rather pollyanna, and she comes off like that at first glance, but it doesn't take long to realize that she has a catfishy side to that's gotten a bit more notable since she's been dead. She'll generally backtrack and say she's joking, but it's not hard to realize that sometimes the insults and mocking are sincerely meant. Someone not understanding something she knows, for example, obviously means the other person is just stupid, right? Well, in her world, yes. She's also one of the few trolls out there that is willing to give up her cultural text quirk in the spirit of diplomacy, but that doesn't mean she isn't going to bitch.

CC: Okay, you win. I have officially humbled myself before you. Entirely glubbing peasant-IFICATED for your pleasure.
CC: Shall I clip my fins for you as well, your majesty?

( Strengths/Weaknesses ) :
As a troll, she has excellent night vision as well as superior endurance and strength in comparison to human beings. She is also a specific subset of trolls, the seadwelling sort, and is most comfortable underwater but more than capable of thriving on land even in particularly inhospitable circumstances. In addition, she is capable of towing a fully grown whale underwater by her strength alone with no notable difficulty. In addition, due to her blood color, she has an immense resistance to psychic powers.

( Other Important Facts ) :
She is going to adopt all the sea creatures around the bubble.

( Sample ) :
It was particularly hard to feel nervous at the prospect of exploring this strange new place, no matter how ominous . How could Feferi feel fearful when she had already experienced so much in her life; being raised by her beloved monsterous lusus, playing with the highest possible stakes, and getting stuck on in the Veil with her frequently obnoxious friends. When it came right down to it, what could really hurt her after getting this far?

Besides, thanks to her ex-moirail, she was already dead and there was a very real chance this just another bubble glubbed up by the eldritch gods of the Outer Ring.

She looked around the halls of the strange 'housing'; occasionally breaking out into a full run as she explored her new surroundings. It was a particularly silly name for the residences, the stacked hives, but she had a feeling that Sollux would have appreciate the comparison to bees. This was simply amazing, and her giggles rang clear through the air. She'd never expected to be forced to live among humans so suddenly. It was just so fascinating, she could hardly contain herself. She could worry about the reality of certain details later, once she figured a few more things out.

A great deal may have been lost to her, but there were so many wonderful things still in store for her yet.

And it was just so exciting!

And also an old thread as a second sample!

( Strengths/Weaknesses ) : As far as weaknesses go, she's a teenage girl without much worldly experience-- and being a bad troll, to boot, is a legitimate soft spot as well. She isn't the most intelligent girl either, and has entirely unrealistic goals and motivations. Her needless fearlessness is also a weakness, one that leads her down paths that she would better avoid.

It is also possible to shoot holes through her with magic wands, thereby killing her, I suppose. Thank Eridan for testing that theory as to the sorts of physical weaknesses she might have.

We are only ever given a brief history of Mindfang's life, only covering a small period of it. The higher the blood colour the longer the lifespan, and as a blueblood Mindfang would natural have a long life. It is unknown how young she was when the Signless had his rebellion, and how old she was when the Summoner killed her.

Created in an ecto lab by Karkat Vantas many years in the future, she was originally sent back to a universe we'll call Troll Universe 1 or TU1 for simplicity. There her name was Aranea Serket, and much the same she was a blueblood with strong psychic abilities with the sign of Scorpio. She was however a bit sweeter, something that came naturally in a much more peaceful Alternia.

Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked Aranea and 11 of her friends played a game called Sgrub. Something went wrong in the game, and with Alternia destroyed with the start of the game there was few options left to them. Unable to find the strength to kill each other or themselves they took the only option left to them. Scratch the game, and begin a new universe, where their race would later play the game, after being in an environment that would help them win it.

And it was into that universe that Mindfang arrived. Crashing onto Alternia she never made her way through the cavern trials, but she still somehow found her way to a lusus. The rest of her wigglerhood was pretty uneventful, passing much like any other.

It was until a few sweeps before her second pupation that something changed. Taken on as a protégé by Doc Scratch her mental capabilities were honed to a higher level than she may have reached natural. However she had and still has little respect for her 'teacher' often referring to him with scorn and sarcasm. When she felt she had learnt enough she stole his all seeing cueball and ran away home.

Returning to Alternia she took to the seas and worked her way up to the top of a ship, through use of cunning and mindcontrol, manipulation and murder. Eventually she became a captain, and it was then she began to make a name for herself.

It was also when she first came to the attention of Orphaner Dualscar, a seadweller devoted to the Empress. Instructed to find and halt her their first meeting ended in a fight and Dualscar being given the scars he was named for. It was also the start of a kismesissitude that would cause huge destruction to the sides of each party. While their hate changed towards the end (with Mindfang growing bored of Dualscar and annoyed that he was turning red for her) it was a near perfect blackrom at the start.

She paid little attention to The Signless and his rebellion, spending her time on the seas, building up her ships to a fleet, and granting herself the title of Marquise because 'It sounded nice'. She may have agreed with the idea that blood meant nothing, but there was nothing to gain from the Signless so she let it follow it's natural path into failure. After all, it wasn't her fight.

Her closest contact with the Signless's group was through the Dolorosa, who after her adoptive son's death was sold into slavery and bought by Dualscar. It was on his ship that Mindfang saw her and whether it was was simply to annoy Dualscar or because Dolorosa actually caught her eye, Mindfang stole her and took her as her own slave. Fond of red romances with lowbloods, it didn't take long for Mindfang to begin her wooing of Dolorosa, albeit forcing the relationship through her mental control. Through the time they spent together Mindfang developed some actual red feelings, considering a future with the other female. However, it can be assumed that any feelings The Dolorosa had were created by Mindfang or the result of Stockholm Syndrome.

Stealing his slave and then flaunting her choice of a lowblood over him was the final straw for Dualscar. Killing The Dolorosa, either by his own hands or making sure his sign was left, his kismesissitude with Mindfang fell apart and he turned to the Grand Highblood, handing over sweeps of information about Mindfang and her crimes against the Empire. If he couldn't have her no one could.

Unfortunately doing this resulted in his death. The Orphaner wasn't very good with jokes, and The Highbloods weren't prone to letting bloodcaste be an excuse for no sense of humour. Dualscar was killed, and the Grand Highblood's only action against Mindfang was to send a novice neophyte after her.

Her sources telling her Redglare's coming and having already foreseen when her true death would come lead Mindfang to be cocky. She ignored the possibility of Redglare being a threat and didn't look into her cueball to see the future. In return lost an eye, an arm and had her armada burnt down by the Neophyte and her dragon. She was dragged to trial, but it was there Redglare made her own mistake. Lowbloods were allowed into the stadium where the trial was held, and this gave Mindfang the perfect opportunity.

Using her abilities to control lowbloods she used them to pull Redglare into the stadium, strangling her with the noose meant for Mindfang. The lowbloods got blue blood, of a sort, and Mindfang got freedom. All she had to do was take out his Honourable Tyranny, a fight she look forward too, gloating that the removal of one arm would "permit a fair fight". It's implied that Mindfang slew him, a being at least a hundred times her own size, whilst suffering from blood loss, new blindness in an eye and only own arm.

Free or not, Redglare had destroyed all that Mindfang had, the fleet of ships under Mindfang's control ashes in the sea. But ever an optimist Mindfang shrugged that off, deciding to leave the seas behind and stare towards the skies. Finding Redglare's dragon was an idea she contemplated, before moving on to take care of more pressing issues.

The Expatriate, as she called him, was also known as Darkleer, a blueblood just higher than Mindfang who had disobeyed the orders of a highblood and failed to execute The Disciple. This act had brought forth some admiration from Mindfang, and it was enough to gain help from her in escaping the wrath of the Highbloods and finding a hiding spot. In Mindfang's eyes he owed her a debt for that, and with his skill in robotics it was Darkleer that Mindfang went to to gain her robotic arm.

Her time with Darkleer was spent recounting her tales, and considering what to do next. Again the dragon came to her mind, but with her vision eightfold destroyed Mindfang had no way to ask the cueball of the possibilities. Contemplating a technological method to to mimic her natural eye she eventually rejected the idea, acknowledging that the knowledge of the future came with a price. Her thoughts moved on, to the prophecy of her death and The Summoner.

She made her decision then. Her worst choice may have been to ask the cueball of her death, and to know who would cause it but rather than run from her fate she would meet it with open arms and anticipation. Perhaps through The Summoner she would gain control of Pyralsprite. Either way she decided to leave the cueball with Darkleer and place a map with her journal to it's location with a warning of the damage it could also do. All that was left to do was wait, as she knew that the Summoner's low blood caste would mean many sweeps would pass before his arrival and rise to rebellion.

Not one to simply sit around and brood with Darkleer (for one it would drive her completely insane and not just partially) Mindfang set off, shedding name and sign and becoming The Wanderer, a cloak covered blueblood who very few knew about. That didn't mean she let her true names fade in the wind, The Wanderer making sure all recalled who Marquise Spinneret Mindfang was.

It simply gave her a disguise to use to uncover information that she could later use to aid the Summoner's rebellion. It was a fruitful set of sweeps for her, information wise, and it also allowed her time to repair the damage done by Redglare, and learn how to deal with the changes she now had, with her vision altered. It was a time for personal growth, her attitude still as outwardly cocky as always, but Mindfang paying more attention to details and plans than running on blind luck. It had failed her before after all.

When whispers began to blossom of the rise of strong young Cavalreaper Mindfang shed her disguise and made her way to his side. Their first meeting was a tense one, but a slow trust began to form between them as the information she gave him proved correct time and time again. She became somewhat of a teacher to he, educating him in all she knew, shaping him into a man worthy of killing. And slowly trust began to turn into friendship, and then into pity as she knew no matter what he would never succeed in overthrowing the Condesce. No one ever did after all.

Her time with him was an enjoyable one, a final adventure for her. Through him she did gain the skies, and she was reintroduced to Pyralsprite, though the dragon still maintained a hate for Mindfang's hand in Redglare's death. The Summoner was forced to tear dragon and spidertroll apart quite a few times to stop one from killing the other. But Mindfang was happy, even though she was closer to her death than ever. She told the stories of the Signless to the Summoner, and helped him strengthen his rebellion.

Mindfang played a high role in his rebellion but while the Summoner may have trusted her, his followers didn't. She was a blue blood, and the rumours connected with her name didn't help her in gaining trust, even if she hadn't controlled a lowblood since beginning her relationship with the Summoner. It was clear something would happen, either Mindfang would leave or The Summoner's followers would.

She left the choice to kill her in his hands, knowing that he would always put his quest before his pity for her.

And he did.
